Major Project Assignment 3
Though I got some very nice and helpful feed back from my colleagues, reflection on my abilities in the time frame of the next two weeks to realize the site I envision has left me wanting. To this end I have totally (after consultation with course instructors) revised my project.
In this new project I propose to demonstrate using streaming media how to make an Ethernet straight through cable step by step. I have secured a digital camera. I have contacted several of my students and they will help me shoot the footage I will stream. To the video shoot I am writing up a shot for shot script so that I can have map of how I want to edit the footage. I plan to shoot two versions: one with my narrating on camera, and silent footage that I can edit and add a sound track to at a later. I will give myself the best options for this later.
Additionally I plan to include a wire map, links to other wiring sites, and an explanation of the major types of cabling. I will bring these elements together on a web page that includes Real Media.
This site will be useful for the students in my first semester Cisco students.
Each student is required to make a test an Ethernet straight through, crossover
cable, and rollover cable (serial to DB-9). While I probably only be able to
produce a straight through cable streaming video in the time allotted, I could
add the remaining two later.
