GradeQuick

Instruction
All new teachers receive instruction in using GradeQuick during a class at the beginning of the year. Additional support days are set aside at the beginning of the year and as each grading period ends. To receive support outside of these times, call the technology director and schedule a time for assistance.

Handouts
Many handouts have been prepared and distributed to assist faculty in using the program. These are available on the Intranet under  GradeQuick Tutorials.  If you need an additional copy, you can print the ones on the Intranet or request one from the technology director.

Home Copy
Carmel's licensing for GradeQuick allows for teachers to install a copy on their home computer.  See the technology director to obtain the floppy disks for home installation.

Microsoft Office Technical Support

Definition of support:  We will install and give training or assistance for this product.

Microsoft products supported by the technology staff

Microsoft products not presently supported by the technology staff ( ie. you need to learn it yourself)

Workshops:
Workshops for learning Microsoft Office products are held primarily during the first two weeks of summer vacation.

This summer, workshops have been held on PowerPoint and Excel.

The following workshops have been held several times and will not be offered again after this summer:

PowerPoint and Word

If you want to learn PowerPoint or Word, please see the technology director for workbooks or tapes. In addition, these classes are offered through Community education, outside workshops and the College of Lake County.

Internet Tutorials
There are also links on the Internet to tutorials for many Microsoft products. See the Intranet Tutorials for these links.

GroupWise

Training
Training for GroupWise was held this summer. Additional training classes will be held during the school year. The File Management class is a prerequisite for the GroupWise class.

Problems
For problems in accessing or connecting to GroupWise, contact the busness manager. If you have forgotten your password, you must see the business manager to get it changed. Neither the technology director nor the technician has responsibility for or control of e-mail access.

Access from Home
It is possible to access your GroupWise e-mail from home.  For instructions on how to set this up, click here

Norton Anti-Virus
Although your computer is configured to automatically update the virus definitions, it is important that you update the virus definitions when a high risk virus outbreak has occurred.  Instructions on how to update your virus definitions may be found here.

Other Software

Training or support is not available at Carmel for any other software other than those listed above. If you or your department choose to purchase software, it is assumed that you will learn to use the program yourself. No one other than the technology director or the technician should install software on the school computers. It is best to consult the technology director before purchasing any software to be sure it is compatible.
