FUNDING RESOURCES

POTENTIAL GRANTS

Catholic schools, similar to public schools, are continually looking for additional sources for funding.  As a private school, Carmel cannot apply for many of the title funds available to public schools.  We always hope that a public school will name us as a co-applicant of a grant.  Public schools are required by law to allocate a small portion of title funding they receive with a private school in their area.  Carmel has yet to be named as a co-recipient in one of the numerous grants that the public schools in the area have received.

Part of the problem is that public schools perceive private schools as competitors and do not want to share their resources with their competitors.   Funding that went to the public high school in the same town as Carmel was shared with a small private grade school several miles away.

Other grants, however, are available to private schools, and Carmel should pursue these monies whenever possible.

When applying for a grant, it is helpful to be familiar with the procedures involved in the application.
