Open Source for ALL Educators?

Wow, learning something new every week about technology!!  It's pretty cool that there are such a thing "Open Resource".  It would be a very good news to teachers in each school who are in charge of computers in school.  I still don't have a clear idea what "Open Source" is.  As far as I understand, people try to explain how their computer software works with what all the codes mean.  I like the idea that people want to explain what exactly is that they are selling or making.  However, when I read some examples of the Open Source, I still couldn't understand a word of what they were saying.  For the Future Music Open Source, I wished that they would define what "Bazaar" mean.  Am I too stupid not to know this?  But according to Paul, it's supposed to be a place where I can find more about the software and wish to use it.  If I can't understand a word of what he is saying, then how in the world would I want to use the software?

Let me agree with the opinions that Open Sources might be very useful and helpful for people who are working with computers and who are very interested in using technologies.  However, I don't know about the idea that ALL the EDUCATORS have to be familiar with Open Source.  For me personally, it wouldn't be my priority to learn how to use Open Source more efficiently when I start teaching.  If all the educators would have to learn the Open Source, then I think it should begin when pre-service teachers are still in school.  I would love to learn how my computer works and how to fix it when it gives me problems, but I don't know if I am going to have so much time in my hand for me to learn all that.  I sound very pessimistic compared to other responses, but I guess it just how I feel about it.
