I think that Tsui-Ju Chen and I share similar visions for furture technology implications in education. We agree that technology will probably facilitate learning and make more accessible to people. There will also be more diversity in learning and perhaps it will be more motivating.
However, we both raise the issue of the need for schools or universities. We are wondering if they will exist in the future or they will just be replaced by on-line instruction. However, we believe that school provides a social context for learning and interaction between students and their peers and between students and their teachers Part of what students learn at school is social skills which will help them in the outside world. Moreover, we argue that the role of the techer as a mediator and helper is very important in the learning process. It is a role that should not be overcome. This was also acknowledged by both Paula and Tsui-Ju, when they said that the teacher plays an important role in motivating the students to learn.
In short, it seems that we all agree that the future of technology uses in education can be good but there certain precautions that one will need to take.
