Statement  of Intent

Although the basic standards of behavior for educators are outlined in the NEA Code of Ethics of the Education Profession, an important piece is missing from the code, which is dated 1975.  The arrival of technology, with all its implications for the educational community, dictates that standards must be developed which will characterize the acceptable behavior for all educators utilizing technology.  While the information age is in a state of constant change, it is still possible to create a set of general guidelines to safeguard the welfare of both educators and students.  This code outlines standards, their rationale and the consequences should the guidelines not be followed.
