Title: Virtual Book Burning

This is an article in PC magazine reporting on a paper by the ACLU that warns ratings systems and filtering solutions will lead to
censorship.
The issue of Internet filtering will have a significant impact on my students. Danville Schools will be implementing in the near future a proxy server with filtering capabilities . The filter will block sites we feel are inappropriate for a K-12 educational setting.

Copyright Laws

Title: 10 Myths About Copyrights On The Web

This is an essay about copyright myths by Brad Templeton. It is an attempt to answer common myths about copyright on the net.
The need to educate students about copyright law will be necessary. Most students believe anything on the web is free to use.

Security

Title: Security On The Web

This is an article about doing business on the web. It discusses a means of sending digital signatures. A method, called digital signatures, was created for signing documents electronically that would bind the originator of a document to its contents.
Students will need to understand this technology if they plan to do business on the web. I believe web commerce will see a big growth in the near future. Secure transactions over the net will be critical to its growth.

Software Piracy

Web site: http://www.cc.emory.edu

Title: Software Piracy And The Law

This is an article on the law governing the use of software.
Students as well as adults do not understand the rules about the legal use of software. We teach our children about civil law and driving laws and it is important to teach them about software piracy law.
