Length of unit: 2 weeks

Overview of unit project: Students will create a virtual layout of Danville High School campus and save it in HTML for publishing.


Mini Lesson Plan

Lesson: Creating virtual graphics for the web

Length of lesson: 2 hours

Objectives of lesson:

Students will

1. Learn how to use a digital camera with a Kaidan tripod.

2. Learn how to create panoramic scene from digital still photographs.

3. Learn how to place QTVR images in a web page.

4. Learn how to work in groups with deadlines to complete a project.

Activities:

Students work in groups of 3 or 4.

Group 1 will photograph the North side of Danville High School.
Group 2 will photograph the East side of Danville High School.
Group 3 will photograph the West side of Danville High School.
Group 4 will photograph the South side of Danville High School.
Group 5 will photograph the Sports fields at Danville High School.

After completing their photographs each group will use QTVR to stitch the still photos into a panoramic scene. After completing their group work each group then will link their panoramic scene to the other groups scene with appropriate entrances and exits from each scene.

The students along with the instructor will place completed project into a web page.

Materials and Equipment:

Digital camera

Tripod with Kaidan mount

Macintosh PowerPC

QuickTime VR Authoring Studio 1.0

FrontPage or Claris Homepage software

Web server

Evaluation:

Students will keep a portfolio of all work along with a journal. This project will be graded on students participation, meeting deadlines and quality of work.
