Legalities, Special Needs, and Issues:

The assignments on legal issues and disability issues has given me a new awareness and a higher level of understanding of these issues. I now feel I have a good understanding of the needs of the disabled in regards to web access. I now think of how the pages I create for the web will be viewed by the disabled. The use of programs like Bobby and Tom are new tools for me and will be passed on to my students. The assignment has given me the incentive to consider other needs of the disabled. I have been exploring means of speaking web pages to the sight disabled. As teachers we have to be adaptive to the needs of our students and now the web makes our students more than the ones inside the walls of our classrooms.

The copyright laws are of interest to me. I plan to incorporate the teaching of ethics into my classes. Students need to know what is acceptable when using technology.

The discussions of Acceptable Use Policies on the EDTECH listserv have been of value to me. I had not given much thought to allowing students to chat on the web. The discussions gave many view points and things to consider. I believe these discussion will help me to better respond to parents, school board members and administrators, when the issues of chat and other student access to the web is discussed.

Evaluation:

The use of portfolios as a evaluating tool is of great interest to me. I have used portfolios in my classes, but I feel I do not have a through knowledge of how to use them to evaluate students. I would also like to explore the use of journals. I would also like to like to look at ways of evaluate students who work in groups to produce projects.

C & I 335 conclusions:

This has been one of the most intense 3 weeks I have experienced. The C&I 335 activities lead me to new programs, new ideas and new resources. Each resource led to more resources which lead to more and each program explored lead me to want to know more. I enjoyed the freedom of the online class and found it to be a positive experience.
