Distance Education via the Internet

Developing and delivering Online Programs continues to be one of my areas of interest and expertise that I continue to pursue here at the University of Illinois.  My online management efforts up until Spring semester 2000, have focused on coordinating the HRE Online Masters degree distance education delivered synchronously and a-synchronously via the Internet.  Moving forward I am working with the CTER program in researching ways of better managing online project management and delivery.

HRE Online

As the coordinator for the Department of Human Resource Education, my primary responsibilities were to lead and facilitate the HRE Online support and design team's efforts in all capacities of providing the top online HRE Masters degree in the world.  The design team supported the online students and instructors in all technical aspects of the delivery of instruction.  I also consulted with the faculty to ensure their courses were developed and delivered on time and that their course objectives were met through the WWW medium.  More than 60 students are currently enrolled in the program and three courses will be delivered concurrently in Spring Semester 2000.

I will begin consulting with the Department of Education Psychology in delivering and developing better methods for managing educational courses via the web beginning May 2000.  We will be looking for way's to incorporate project management software, skills, and generally accepted principles in the distance education domain.   Maintaining a dynamic and flexible program while balancing the demands of technological dependencies continues to be a challenge for distance education providers and working with faculty members.  We hope to find some common ground where we can make improvement.
