Delivering effective educational programs online is of intense interest for many learning communities around the world.   Maximizing technology and minimizing the limits of the Internet medium in delivering pedagogically sound online educational programs is an area that educators are continually exploring.  Most of this exploration is being conducted "ad-hoc", is action oriented, or is being investigated through the evaluation process of specific online education practitioners.   As these providers publish their experiences or findings a body of literature to assist guide further development is beginning to emerge.

Managing online education programs from start to finish in a systematic and disciplined way should be one of the most essential elements of focus for an online education program.  However, based on the distance and online education and training literature, little attention has been given this subject. This project investigates "Online Education Program Management" in an effort to understand and improve the management of online programs to enable better teaching and learning opportunities to take place via the Internet
