Teaching Experience

Teaching High School technology education has been one of the highlights of my life.   I truly love the youth and helping them map their interests to skills and advancing technology they must learn to  explore in our rapidly changing society.

In Duchesne County School district, I was fortunate to have supportive and progressive administration.  I was there nearly two years and taught primarily Foundations of Technology.  This state wide program exposed students and taught them a variety of technologies, technological advancements, problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and design skills in the 9th or 10th grade.  I also developed an advanced course for Juniors and Seniors.  I served on the State Foundations of Technology committee where we developed state standards and assessment measures.  Students were encouraged to consider future careers and develop skills in the following areas: (List is not exhaustive)
  • Multimedia Presentations
  • Multimedia Authoring
  • Desktop Publishing
  • 3D Animation
  • Video Editing (Digital/Analog)
  • Internet Technologies (HTML)
  • Robotics
  • CADD
  • Pneumatics
  • Pre-Engineering/Design
  • Materials Processing (Metals/Woods/Plastics)
Timpanogos High School &
American Fork High School
In Alpine School District, I taught Electronics for one year.   During this time, I focused on topics including;
  • Computer networking
  • Digital electronics
  • Computer control technology
  • Basic circuits
  • Circuit board design

Considering it was the first time I had taught the subject, I was especially pleased with the experience and outcomes.  At Timpanogos, the program grew large enough to offer me a full time position from the 1/2 time one I had accepted the prior year.   At American Fort,  I began with 12 students enrolled my starting year, and at the end of the year, the courses had over 100 registered for the following year.   Student robot projects in this school were especially innovative and we took over 13 awards home from the BYU Young Craftsman's Fair that year.
