Urbana Middle School is the only middle school in the
Urbana School District #116 and has about 1050 students.
-
I am an 8th grade teacher of emotional/behavior disorders and learning
disabilities students.
-
My career began in Peoria, IL with the Special Education Association of
Peoria County where I provided learning disabilities services to elementary
and middle school age students. There was a hiatus for having children
and managing a maternity store in Ohio before I returned to Illinois and
teaching. For five and a half years I taught content classes
to special needs students at Champaign Centennial High School before coming
to Urbana Middle School. I moved to a middle school setting because
of my frustration at the number of special needs students who drop out
before getting their high school diploma. It is my goal to provide
learning opportunities to help my students be successful and graduate.
-
Here are some places to visit to learn more about adolescents,
inclusion,
technology
and support for special ed teachers, the latest national special
education projects,
some great stuff about Earth,
and my favorite baseball
team.
