After graduating from Illinois State University in 1996, I accepted a job teaching in Pekin, Illinois. My task was to create an exploratory class that would replace home economics. I was prompted in the direction of technology.I then created a class called Communications. Communications is a class that teaches speaking skills with technology. We have evolved from a twelve week curriculum to a nine week curriculum with two minimesters of electives added to the end of year. I also have taught Microsoft Office classes at the Professional Development Institute and an Introduction to Speaking Skills class at Midstate College, both of which are in Peoria. I am a Certified Microsoft User Specialist in PowerPoint. After graduating, I plan to become a technology specialist and earn my doctorate.
