Curriculum Website Evaluation

For this site, I have decided to evaluate the Virtual Presentation Assistant

The Virtual Presentation Assistant is a tool that I can use in my class, Communications.

The contents include:

Determining your purpose: Time, place, audience, speech types and examples.
Selecting your topic: Focuses on audience interests with Government, culture and media links.
Researching your topic: Suggested print and online resources.
Analyzing your audience: Occasion, location and audience factors to consider.
Supporting your points: Making credible impressions, using humor, statistics, etc.
Outlining your points: Types of outlines, theses and supporting points, etc.
Using visual aids: Visual aid tips, links to and pointers on using presentation software, hardware, etc.
Presenting your speech: Effective delivery, format types, tips on controlling nervousness, speech examples, etc.
Public Speaking Links: WWW links to useful public speaking sites.

Evaluation

Can move from page to page easily - Moving from page to page is very easy, the home page contains an outline for easy browsing.
Good use of graphics and color - The colors complement each other and the pages are graphics free as they are not needed to illustrate certain points.
Additional resource links are included - This site is full of awesome links: Great Speeches archives, Uncle Sam's reference, Familiar Quotations, and the Library of Congress.
Information is useful - All of this information is entirely useful as my students can follow each link to set up a whole speech.
Rich content and will likely will be revisited - This site contains links and materials that can be used over and over again for instruction and reference.
How this web site compares in content to similar web sites - Compared to other college web sites, this one is easy to understand and contains tons of information.
All links work and have been kept current - YES!

This site will be very useful in my classroom. I can assign and discuss the different pages each day. I can also use them as self-tutorial. Another thing that I love about this site is it's links. The students can do their research from this site and I feel safe in them doing so. This web site will be a definite asset in my classroom.
