I have attempted to find the case of educational use of technology that does not fit Bruce & Levin’s taxonomies of educational technology, but I haven’t found any one challenging the taxonomies. The reasons why I couldn’t find one are : first, the taxonomies cover, as far as I know, almost all the areas where technology is applied for educational purpose. They are so comprehensive that I could even think of any example of educational use of technology that the taxonomy don’t include. Second, my search was mainly confined to web pages. But since they are basically built for the purpose of inquiry and communication, from the first it was impossible to find one.
In fact, with my present knowledge and information about educational
use of technology, the authors’ view on "technology as media" seem to appropriately
catch the function of technology not only for the educational context but
also for the general application of technology to the other area. However,
if I have to find one that challenges the taxonomy, it'll be this site.
http://deil.lang.uiuc.edu/ExChange/.One
of the goals of this site is to provide an opportunity for non-native speakers
to express themselves throuh the use of English.According to the authors,
no AAI project represent the category of Expression. I think writing in
a foreign langauge can be put under the category of Expression. Therefore,
I guess this site can be an example og challenging the taxonomy.
