Turn Scanner on. (Switch is on the
front of the machine).

Open Program Manager
-
Click on HP Desk Scan icon

Open Desk Scan 2 version 2.2

Put your picture or book cover in
the scanner. (Make sure you line up the picture with the green arrows in
the top right hand corner).

Check the Scanner settings - Path
should be Screen

Click Preview button
-
Scanner will begin scanning and
will tell you that it is scanning

You will see a preview of your scan

Here you can edit your image by
cropping the portion of the scan that you want:

To do this: In the preview box,
position the cross hairs on the top left hand corner. Hold down the mouse
and draw a box around the portion of your scanned image).

Click on the zoom image to preview
your edited image.

When the scanned image of your book
or illustration is satisfactory to you, click on Final.

You will see the Save As box appear
and will be asked which drive you want to save your scan on.

Select the "Y" drive (which is your
personal drive).

Type in a file name in the file
box.

Click "OK"
-
You will see ".tif" or ".bmp" as
the last letters of your file name
-
You will need to save as a ".jpg"
or ".gif" file
-
The image is now saved to your "Y"
drive.

You may also save this image to
a disk if you select the "A" drive.
