Scanner Directions


  • Turn Scanner on. (Switch is on the front of the machine).
  • Open Program Manager
  • Click on HP Desk Scan icon
  • Open Desk Scan 2 version 2.2
  • Put your picture or book cover in the scanner. (Make sure you line up the picture with the green arrows in the top right hand corner).
  • Check the Scanner settings - Path should be Screen
  • Click Preview button
  • Scanner will begin scanning and will tell you that it is scanning
  • You will see a preview of your scan
  • Here you can edit your image by cropping the portion of the scan that you want:
    • To do this: In the preview box, position the cross hairs on the top left hand corner. Hold down the mouse and draw a box around the portion of your scanned image).
  • Click on the zoom image to preview your edited image.
  • When the scanned image of your book or illustration is satisfactory to you, click on Final.
  • You will see the Save As box appear and will be asked which drive you want to save your scan on.
  • Select the "Y" drive (which is your personal drive).
  • Type in a file name in the file box.
  • Click "OK"
    • You will see ".tif" or ".bmp" as the last letters of your file name
    • You will need to save as a ".jpg" or ".gif"  file
  • The image is now saved to your "Y" drive.
  • You may also save this image to a disk if  you select the "A" drive.
