Project Collaboration  Major Project Phase 5

Edpsy 490i

The final Projects for 490i have indeed been collaborative efforts.  As a group, CTER 2 has been a close-knit class since the onset.  Even though we are a diverse group, spread by many miles, helpfulness and encouragement have been available from the beginning.

Again, in 490i there has been much collaboration.  Staff and students for classmates needing ideas, gaining information, and receiving suggestions have provided help.  Feedback has been on Webboard, through email, through chats, and even personal contacts.

There are two main kinds of collaborative efforts that I will address.  First, the Webboard feedback was given as part of our Major Project Phase 2.  I responded to Jenny K. about her class website and suggested that she try Teacherweb, since our district does not allow us to have an interactive site.  I responded to Tammy B. on her quilt website with information that could be used.  I also emailed Tammi detailed information on how my classroom made a class quilt (in 1976 for the Bicentennial)! I provided Marilyn my own URL on a Unit of Practice on volcanoes that she could peruse for her use. Not only did I share my experiences, but also our group received helpful information from classmates.  Several shared websites for our project on the Solar System.  Marti Sierra-Perry shared a site for Virtual Tours, and even stopped by Springfield and gave us printed copies for our consideration.

As I was deciding on a project, Jenn and Sara invited me to join their Virtual Solar System Field Trip.  This is an area of science that interested me, so I certainly agreed.  This project has definitely been a collaborative effort.  We used email and chat to facilitate our main ideas and contributions.  Many evenings were spent at Jenn’s home to learn how to use Dreamweaver for our project.  We divided tasks, and all contributed.  I asked my son to show me how to use Shockwave to make an interactive game to implement into our Virtual Tour. (An ultimate compliment occurred, he said he never realized his mom knew so much about computers!)  I believe our collaborative efforts made our Virtual Tour of the Solar System an effective learning tool.  I believe our project is a result of our collaborative efforts.
