Course Reflection

As I think about
this course the best thing for me was reading Learn & Live from The
George Lucas Educational Foundation.
The articles in this book were great.
They made me feel good about being a teacher because I was reading about
actual things being accomplished (great activities) in different schools. Education needs to change and this book can
help others see how education can change for the better. I think some people feel when you talk about
changing education, something will be lost.
I think Learn & Live can ease some people’s thoughts about
changing education.
Teachers can
discover the fact that maybe they need to change their teaching style. It is not easy, but there is plenty of
support listed. Also, teachers can help
get the community and parents involved—not all of the parents are going to try
to stop change; they may even support it.
When everyone realizes we are all trying to do the best we can for the
students, everyone can work together—teachers, community members, parents, and
administrators.
Reading this book
just made me say, “Wow, they did that.
Maybe, I can get something like that going in my school.” I feel better about what I am trying to get
out of this CTER program and even feel my vision is clearer after reading the
articles. I might even recommend to our
school that we pick up a couple books.
I am definitely going to tell them about the website.
