Background: In weeks prior to this activity members of the class had completed computer activities to develop word processing skills and had their individual pictures taken with a digital camera. A few days before presentation of this lesson, we then brainstormed summer activity highlights, components of a good paragraph, and the future publishing expectations on HyperStudio. Then students were to write, self-evaluate, and exchange and proofread their Summer Fun paragraphs.

Lesson Presentation:
Warm Up - Volunteers will share their Summer Fun paragraphs. Other students and I will note good qualities and areas for improvement in the shared paragraphs.
Presentation - I will distribute the HyperStudio instructional worksheet and have the students gather around computer #7 with these worksheets. With the LTV hooked up, I will demonstrate opening HyperStudio. I will narrate adding my Summer Fun paragraph in the appropriate place of the class stack. I will show the students how to save their portion of the class stack and then view it to insure it is published and saved as they wish it to be. Students are then reminded to place a check next to their names on the class list to show that they have completed the assignment.
Skills Development - Pairs of students will be randomly chosen to assist each other in completing the activities. I will observe pairs as they complete their assigned activities (using a checklist to mark skills completed).
Those not at computers will be independently involved in Readers'/ Writers' Workshop.

a. Students will demonstrate opening the HyperStudio stack and finding their pictures upon request with 90% accuracy.
