JULIE'S CURRICULAR HOT LINKS

  • I teach at Owen Marsh School. It is a K-4 school in Springfield, Illinois. As can be seen, we are in the very early stages of creating our web site.
  • Springfield School District # 186 uses the Houghton Mifflin reading series. I have found that Houghton Mifflin's Web site has some helpful lesson ideas and plans. It also provides some sites that may be of use to some teachers as extensions to series stories.
  • The Springfield School District is currently using the FOSS Science Essentials science series. It is a primarily hands-on approach to science. The series has some great activities, but I found the FOSS Science Essentials' Web site to be of additional help. The site really focuses in on the needs of each science kit and ideas for extension activities and web sites to visit.
  • A great site for students to visit is Yahooligans! This site covers many, many subject areas both school and non-school related. It is a fun place to start when looking for web sites for students to use as part of class projects.
  • FileMaker provides information about the FileMaker program.
  • AskERIC provides very useful educational information in a quick and easy to use format. You can find lesson plans, resources for teachers and students, ideas for projects . . . The list goes on. Each one is better than the next. The lesson plans provide information on subjects and grade levels and are very useful. I enjoyed the ideas a lot. I always love new ideas!
  • Yahoo Science is a link of Yahoo. It provides resources, lesson plans, and others to chat with on a wide variety of science topics. If you are at a loss for science ideas, I suggest you check this one out!
  • Science Power 2000 has numerous lesson plan ideas. What a helpful place to search when our own creative minds need a boost. There are great sources for world maps of land forms, temperatures, water formations and endless statistics and graphics to go along. This information would be especially good for science and social studies activities.
