My Teaching Career
After graduating from Illinois State University, my teaching career began in the small town of Cerro Gordo, Illinois where I taught second grade. Unfortunately, it was only a one year position. Soon I was sending out resumes again.
I was hired to teach at Washington Elementary School in Pontiac, Illinois late that summer. I remained in the Pontiac School District for several years where I taught fifth, second, and sixth grades.
Currently I teach math, science, and social studies to sixth graders at Boomington Junior High School in Bloomington, Illinois. Even though our school is called a junior high, it is actually a middle school, accomodating 1400 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. I am very interested in the use of technology in education. This interest led me to the online Master's Program in Curriculum, Technology, and Education Reform at the University of Illinois. I hope to incorporate more technology into my teaching as well as inform other educators of effective uses of technology in our schools. I will be adding to this site as my courses continue.
