Endangered Animal Postcard Guidelines

Below are step-by step instructions that tell you how to participate in the endangered animal email project.  If you have any questions please email me at twardowskie@district87.org

1.  Select an endangered animal that you would like to do some research about. Make sure the animal is endangered and not just one of your favorite animals.

2. After choosing your animal, email me at twardowskie@district87.org to let me know what animal you picked.  Next, research your endangered animal to find the information below.

Location:     name of the countries or continent where the animal lives
Habitat:    type of habitat such as grassland, desert, rainforest, deciduous forest, ocean, etc.
Size height, weight, etc, of the animal
Diet:  What does your endangered animal eat?
Appendages:  How many legs/feet does the species have (if any)? Does it have a tail? How many does the species use to move?
Other Information This can be anything else that will help people figure out the mystery endangered animal.  Try not to make the clues too easy or too hard.  For example, “This animal has a trunk,” gives the animal away.
3. When you are done doing research about your animal, Email it to me at twardowskie@district87.org.  Your email might look something like this:

5. If someone sends you an email guessing your endangered animal, email them (and me) to let them know if they are correct.  Also tell them why your animal is endangered and include a picture if you can.  Your email might look something like this:

6. The project begins today, Friday, June 21, 2002.  The project will be over on Wednesday, July third.  Make sure you pick your animal and send out your clues soon so that the other people have time to solve your mystery.

7. When the project is done, I will make a web page that includes all of your mystery clues and the endangered animal that goes with them.  I will tell you where to look on the Internet to see the web Page.
