Analysis and Evaluation

The best description of my eportfolio according to the developed definitions would be a college student portfolio type.  In it I have documented the skills and experiences learned in the classes that I have taken by publishing projects and other documented assignments.  These cover a wealth of topics.  The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate a degree of competence to outside evaluators, as well as teachers and classmates.

I would like to transform the portfolio to have the broader appeal of a higher education faculty portfolio documenting a broader range of work and achievements, as well as publications and coursework visa a vie teaching materials.  Part of the goal of this type of portfolio is its use in the pursuit of higher employment positions.

 Who is the target audience?

The professor who taught the course, Mike Waugh, my fellow students, and other people who may reach this site via a search engine because of their interest in HTML editors, or specifically, Arachnophilia 5.0.

What is the purpose of the site?

The purpose of the site is to evaluate a software program (Arachnophilia 5.0) and to highlight its capabilities and faults. The site is essentially a critique of the software and a comparison with other similar software that I have used.

Does it achieve its goals? How do you know?

I haven't had much feedback from viewers of the site, except from Dr. Waugh who gave it a 90%. He seems to have understood my objections to other HTML editors such as Front Page and other usable MS products like word which convert documents to HTML coding.

What visuals or multimedia were used, and why?

I used a PowerPoint presentation at the end in order to summarize in an attractive way the main points of the critique.

 Who is the target audience?

The course professor, other students, administrators from his district, and other interested parties across the nation.

What is the purpose of the site?

The goal of this project is to develop a pilot program in the field of physics that will use a combination of project-based activities and technology as the main teaching tools.

Does it achieve its goals? How do you know?

This is unknown. The author states that as a final measuring tool, the students will be given a standardized exam to measure their content knowledge and scientific reasoning. The scores on these measuring tools will be compared to the scores of the non-participating students.

What visuals or multimedia were used, and why?

There were none on the sight, however small gif images of various document were used, and these could be enlarged to full page size by clicking. A good use of this facility, usually devoted to pictures or graphics.

General comments: The page uses frames as navigation tools, with the narrow left hand frame containing a drop down menu,a nice touch, however, some experts on site design descry the use of this type of navigation, common as it is, because of back/forward button confusion. I didn't have any problems navigating the site.
