The Copyright Website provides copyright information for web users. This is a fun but informational site. It provides valuable material regarding a serious matter. It is interesting in that it provides the user with several real examples involving music groups and movies. It contains several categories and subcategories:

- Famous Copyright Infringements contains examples of infringements such as ZZ Top and James Bond.

"Cookies" technology allows others to read information on Internet users' computers and enable them to find out where the user goes on the Internet. Companies in the on-line advertising industry may be using cookies data to collect personal information for advertising and marketing purposes. Several national organizations such as the Civil Liberties Union are proposing to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) that web browser software be fixed so that activities of Internet users cannot be tracked by these companies.

 

Illegal Uses of Software (Piracy)

Software Publishers Association - Anti-Piracy Web Site

This site provides several links to sites to combat software piracy. The site includes a hotline, a link to a software usage policy which includes templates, a Software Publishers Association Anti-Piracy Button to be included on your website, as well as links to a copyright glossary, copyright laws, and shareware and freeware. In addition, there is also a news section with articles related to piracy.

Internet Fraud Watch

This site is designed to help consumers distinguish between legitimate and fraudulent promotions on the Internet. Common fraudulent promotions may include undelivered Internet Services; damaged, defective, or undelivered merchandise; work-at-home schemes; and prizes and sweepstakes. The site includes Internet tips such as doing business with companies you know and trust, being careful about giving personal information, and to take your time when deciding to purchase something. The site includes special alerts to frauds.
