After the students have completed the research in each of the four classes: science, math, social studies, and language arts they will begin working on the timeline and creating the panoramic picture of their artifact for the virtual museum. The students will be using TimeLiner, a Tom Snyder software, to produce the timeline of an important scientific, historical and mathematical facts which pertain to the three ancient civilizations. They will work in teams to add the information on the timeline and take digital pictures of their simple machine or artifact which will then be put into the virtual museum. The description for the simple machine or artifact will be word processed during their reading/ workshop time in language arts. Each team will create a model of the simple machine in science class, or an artifact created in social studies to photograph for the web page. The simple machine or artifact will be photographed on all sides using a Sony digital camera. Each team will add their pictures to web site as part of a virtual Ancient History Museum. The timeline will be posted on the website, which will link the simple machine or artifact.

Assessment: The assessment for the culminating project will be done ongoing throughout the study of ancient civilizations. Each subject area will assess for their discipline using the District Standards and Benchmarks. Rubrics, checklist and formal assessment will be used throughout the quarter. Their technology skills will be assessed on using the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for grades 6 - 8. These standards were an initiative developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Lincoln School has chosen to use these as performance indicators to assess students' technology skills.
