Summer 2000
Final Project
Jennifer Haberkorn
For Project LINCOL'N, I created a curriculum grid for each of our ten themes in Language Arts. I have also created four Units of Practice to be placed on the Apple Learning Interchange web site.

These four units of practice are ready to be implemented in the Fall.  In the past, I have done some of these activities with my class; however, for this coming  year I aligned each unit with State and District Learning Standards. Language Arts benchmarks will be the main focus throughout these units. I have also integrated technology more so students do not view it as an added part of the unit. Each Unit of Practice defines how technology will be used. Last year I began using rubrics with my first graders, and next year I will use them much more. I will discuss rubrics and my expectations before projects are done. Students will always know what is expected of them.

Since our school has become "Ridgely's Learning Community", I feel it is important and valuable to have parents, community, alumni, etc. involved with our school.  One of my priorities for the coming school year is to make these people feel welcome in our school and keep them informed of what is happening in the classroom. There will be opportunities for them to volunteer in and out of the classroom.  Our class will also create newsletters and videos to exhibit what has been happening in our room. We will also invite them to visit our class to see firsthand our accomplishments.
