Evaluation of Student Project -
Multimedia Millennium Memories

I completed the lessons with one of my students after school and during recesses over a period of two weeks. She enjoyed the project and was amazed at the end result. I was not able to put her pictures on the first two slides because her parents did not want her name and picture together since they are posted on the internet. If I was doing this project with my students to show other classmates and parents, I would have included the pictures on those two slides.

For the most part, this student quickly and easily completed the eight lessons for this project. Alex easily changed fonts and font color and also did well on typing text into the text boxes. Alex caught on rather quickly to saving her work to a disk. Once I showed her how to do this, she saved the rest of the slides. She had a difficult time bringing her Kid Pix picture into PowerPoint and making it fit into the given space even after showing her several times. She could, however, add clip art after a quick demonstration.  She was also able to help me search the web for information about Florence Joyner and write about it on the appropriate slide. She had fun choosing her slide transitions, but we decided to make them all the same.

The templates were created to provide a lot of guidance which was extremely helpful to Alex. Even though she did a great job on the this project, I think it would be difficult for the average first grader to complete without much assistance. Alex has had a lot of computer exposure; whereas, some have not had very much. This project could be used for gifted lower elementary students and upper elementary or older students who have had much more experience with technology. The final outcome, the completed slide show, was incredibly gratifying for Alex as well as myself.
