Student work at this level has one or all of the following characteristics:
3 - Demonstrates an understanding of the important information; is able to apply or exemplify that information appropriately; when asked, can explain the information with adequate detail; any omissions are not significant
 
Student work at this level has one or all of the following characteristics:
2 - Demonstrates an incomplete understanding of the important information; misapplies some information or, when asked, explains some of the information accurately but also has some significant misconceptions or omissions.
 
Student work at this level has one or all of the following characteristics:
1 - Demonstrates an incomplete understanding of the important information; misapplies the information or, when asked, cannot explain the information or the explanation contains multiple severe misconceptions or omissions.

Rubric for Procedural Knowledge
4 - Carries out the major process/skill with ease, with accuracy, and, when appropriate, with speed.
 
When the skill/process requires an understanding of concepts in order to apply the process/skill, demonstrates a thorough understanding of those concepts; the application reflects insight and/or in-depth understanding of complex, subtle relationships and distinctions.
 
Student work at this level has one or all of the following characteristics:

3 - Carries out the major process/skill without significant error, with little hesitation, and when appropriate, with reasonable speed.
 
When the skill/process requires an understanding of concepts in order to apply the process/skill, demonstrates an understanding of those concepts that is adequate for an accurate application of the skill/process; the application reflects no significant misconceptions or omissions.
 
Student work at this level has one or all of the following characteristics:
2 - Carries out the major process/skill but there are some significant errors, with some significant hesitation, and/or with limited speed.
 
When the skill/process requires an understanding of concepts in order to apply the process/skill, demonstrates an somewhat limited understanding of those concepts which results in also limiting the application of the skill/process; the application reflects some understanding but significant misconceptions and/or omissions.
 

Student work at this level has one or all of the following characteristics:

1 - Carries out the major process/skill but there are major hesitations, and/or there is severely limited speed
 
When the skill/process requires an understanding of concepts in order to apply the process/skill, demonstrates a severely limited understanding of those concepts which results in misapplications of the skill/process; the application reflects severe misconceptions and/or omissions.
