Open Source

With the volume of information available on the web, the concept of Open source was inevitable.  I think its as simple as 'two heads are better than one'- to a point.  For education and educators this means that there are resources available to help one muddle through the vastness of internet information. However, the 'bazaar' approach fails to adequately address the credibility issue. The quality and reliability of an Open Source remains questionable in my mind.  I tend to favor the 'cathedral' approach.  I'm prone to go with 'the name I can trust'.  Perhaps some type of 'Universal Credibility Rubric' would allow the user a point of reference.
