Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC)
established 1966

The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national information system supported by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Library of Education designed to provide users with ready access to an extensive body of education related literature.  ERIC provides a variety of services and products on  a broad range of education related issues.  ERIC's services and products include clearinghouses, a virtual library, a personalized Internet based education information service (AskERIC) and the world's largest database of education information.

Houston ISD Opens Distance Education & Development Centers

This school year all students residing in the Houston ISD will be attending PreK - 12 Student Distance Education & Development Centers (SDEDC).  Staff members have been trained to be able to provide students with content information, technology assistance and instruction and appropriate child development strategies.  Schools have been renovated to accommodate these 24 hour centers which will provide computer workstations, help desks, access to school clubs, organizations and extra-curricular activities and child care.  Parents will be able to take all of their children to one location at the hours that are convenient for the family.  Students will also be able to access their On Line courses from remote workstations including libraries, offices and their homes.
