-Edpsy 490I Presentation-

I am going to start my presentation by giving a brief overview of my project

For my project, I wanted to re-design my e-portfolio

The reason was when I created it; I had no concept of web design

Over, my two years at CTER, my web design skills have increased dramatically

Especially these last two classes have been wonderful in learning skills on web design

Anyway in designing the portfolio, I wanted it to be user friendly and look more professional

Also, I wanted it to have a clear starting point and easy navigation

Like we learned in this class

So that was my first goals

I added my video streaming using Flash by Macromedia on my index page of my portfolio

This video explains to my audience what the features of the portfolio are and gives the portfolio a clear starting point

In fact, I know that I will not have enough time to explain everything right now…

but you can watch my videos streaming to get a wonderful idea of what I wanted to do with my portfolio

I chose to use Flash because it gives a clear description, doesn't take a long time to download, and the majority (95%) of computers have it

Also my district is going to train webmasters this fall with it and it gave my district webmaster a wonderful opportunity to use me as a guinea pig

Back to my portfolio…

I designed it for three groups in mind and one sub group

One, CTER professors,

Two, Future and Present CTER Students,

Three Future Employers,

Fourth subgroup, other educators

I am not going to spend talking about these audiences because they are all covered in the video.

I added a cool feature on the video also, that emails me when someone has COMPLETELY watched the whole video. (I just want to see how many people watch all of it)

This is something that I am going to change in the future…

If people don't watch the entire video, then I am going to shorten it

The portfolio was made with a template similar to Todd's website (but doesn't look as good)

It contain eight buttons and one search bar

Take a quick look at the buttons, you can stop the video from playing by hitting stop…

Meet back in about 1 minute…. URL http://lrs.ed.uiuc.edu/students/jrnorma1/index.htmlhttp://lrs.ed.uiuc.edu/students/jrnorma1/index.html

The buttons where design for different members of my audience and are basically what we were told to have on our portfolio at the beginning of CTER

You will notice that I only used assignments and projects though that I found to be exemplary leaving others off the portfolio

The feedback button is what I plan to direct me in the future…

If someone like or dislike something on a page, they can quickly give me feedback before they forget their thought

The Link toolbar has links to educational resources that I used over the past two years in CTER and in my classroom

Overall I have some work left on my project…

I still have a few assignments and projects I want to look through to see if I want to add them to my portfolio

Also, there are a couple of links I want to add

For example, A Macromedia Link because I love Dreamweaver and Flash

I also liked how I learned two audio/video streaming

Even though this was frustrating at times, I did enjoy learning something that I will definitely use in the future

Especially learning FLASH

I can't brag about it enough

It was fairly easy to use and has some really cool features

Anyway, I enjoyed this class and think that some of these multimedia skills should be taught earlier in the CTER program

I definitely learned more in my last two classes (490NET and this one) about web design…

Which is something that interest me

Like I said earlier… The video does a wonderful job explaining details that I left off due to time restraints

Plus I will know how many people watched the entire video

This presentation is also posted in webboard for those who would like to look at for future reference
