Mandarin Chinese is the official language in Taiwan and People's Republic of China.
Below is a short introduction of these two places.

1. Area: 36,000 square kilometers.
2. Population: 21 millions.
3. Languages: Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese (Hokkeinese), Hakka and Aboriginal Languages.
4. Ethnic Groups: Han ethnic group and Nine Aboriginal Minorities.
5. Food Styles: Many!!
6. Weather: Warm and humid all year around because of its subtropical and tropical location. In summer, the temperatures are ranged from 28C to 35C; in winters, they are 8C to 15C.

2. China

1. Area: 9.6m square kilometers .
2. Population: 1.2 billion .
3. Languages: The official language is Mandarin Chinese, which is based on the northern dialect. Northern dialect covered the largest area within China.
4. Ethnic groups: 56, with 55 minorities. Han ethnic group is the largest group among all, covered over 95% of the total population.
5. Food styles: Northern people live on wheat, while southern people on rice. This is more typical in rural area than in urban area. People's diet in major cities is becoming more and more diversified, with a conspicuous health concern trend.
6. Weather: With such a vast territory, the climate of China diversified greatly. Including continental climate, oceanal climate. The lowest temperature is as low as in north Minnesoda. The highest temperature can be as high as in tropical island. Generally, the precipitation drops gradually from south to north, from east to west. The temperature rises from north to south. There are four basin areas that are well-known for the heat in summer: ChongQing, Sichuan province; WuHan, Hubei province; JiNan, Shandong province and Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. In a word, the climate in China is quite similar to that in the States.
7. Life Styles: Northeastern area: heavy industry and agriculture. Northwestern area: Stock breeding. Southeastern area: light industry, hi-tech industry, new industry and agriculture. Southwestern and Middle: no special features. West is poorer than east, while north poorer than south.
