Professional Growth and Development Activities

I have recently completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum, Technology, and Education Reform through the Universitry of Illinois, College of Education. Below are links to some of the projects I have completed during my two years in the program.

Ray Bradbury lived in the community where I teach, Waukegan, Il, until the age of 12. Many of his novels have descriptions of places in the community. "Dandelion Wine" a novel that is read during 6th and 7th grades, has many references to Waukegan. Mrs. Faith Clark, a teacher I taught with for several years, developed a walk around Waukegan visiting many of the places Mr. Bradbury writes about in "Dandelion Wine". My students made Power Point presentations of these sites. One of the presentations can be found at Bradbury Walk, students then wrote eyewitness letters which can be found at Eyewitness Letters. This is the rubric used for grading the Power Point Presentations.

Another project was a group project. We developed a Code of Computer Ethics for Educators

Working coaboratively is an important aspect of education. As a teacher I encourage my students to work coaboratively on projects, but needed to expand our world. I started a Penny Circulation Projectand posted it on Global School House Network This project is ongoing and will be continually updated.
