About me:

I grew up in a small town in rural Iowa. After many years of working in the business world,
marrying and having two sons, I went back to college and graduated from Indiana University. My husband was then transferred to Illinois, where we chose to live in the northern suburb of Grayslake. I have two sons, Adam, who work as a Service Advisor for Knauz BMW in Lake Bluff, IL, and Tyler, a recent high school graduate who will be attending Iowa State University in the fall and majoring in Civil Engineering. Some of my hobbies, include swimming, quilting, and reading. I am currently pursuing my masters in Curriculum, Technology and Ed Reform from the University of Illinois,.

I teach 7th grade science and math in a suburban school district, Robert Abbott Accelerated Middle School: http://www.wps.lake.k12.il.us/abbott/index.html.  I am currently working on integrating more technology into my classroom, combining math and science instruction, and performance based assessments. I am also working on a portfolio project for our district which I will be piloting this year. This year I will be on a two person team and have only between 50 and 60 students. This also includes eight to twelve learning disabled students, along with one deaf student. These students have an assistant or interpreter, which helps both myself and my other students.
