Project Proposal Responses
for the scrapbook group, Liz and Tammy

Becky, Sue, Jennifer, Paulette, and Zan (in other words, the scrapbook group)-

Your project sounds wonderful.  It is well thought out and organized.  I applaud your effort to include different hardware and software applications.  After watching my students absorb new technology so quickly, I know your project will be very engaging.  I was wondering if your students will have access to the hardware and software after the lesson has been taught.  This might allow for more retention of how to use the different technology components.
I also love your idea of "Techie Tips".  I can see our district as one that has an incredible amount of technology, but often times it is not using it to the full potential.  I am looking forward to hearing about how your guides help your staff and volunteers become more motivated to use the software and hardware.
Liz-
Your ocean web quest is a neat idea.  I like how you have incorporated discovery learning with cooperative learning.  The students should truly engage themselves in their topic knowing they will need to teach their peers.
I also like your extension ideas.  It would be a great way for students to organize their information.  Have you thought about the students presenting this project to their parents or another class?   The students might be eager to share with others what they have learned.
Tammy-
Your rock web quest is a good idea if you have such a high interest in it.  The students will be able to see how excited you are about the topic and hopefully will be more highly motivated.  In terms of the internet hook-up problem, could you train some parent volunteers to take small groups of students to the library to utilize the internet?  I did something similar when I was student teaching and there was only one internet hook-up in the school.  I would stay in the room, and my cooperating teacher would bring three or four students to the library where the computer was.  I am not sure if this would work in your situation, but I thought I would let you know.
