Assessment:
- Students will complete a test in which
they demonstrate a knowledge of AB form. The test will be
administered at the end of this unit. Students will be asked to
identify music that meets the AB form-criteria by placing a check
mark next to the blank. This test will be administered by using
the "Grady Profile" software program, in which the students take
the test at the computer and save the results for the
teacher.
- Students will complete a "What Do You
Hear?" quiz. The students will listen to 5 songs and be asked to
aurally discriminate between AB form songs and non-AB form
songs.
- Students will be assessed using a
teacher-created rubric for the creation of a melody in Lesson
4.
- Students will be assessed using a
teacher-created rubric for creating new lyrics in Lesson
5.
- Grading will be related to individually
established goals and should assess both effort and achievement.
Students will be encouraged to compete only with
themselves.
- Informal assessment will take place
while the students are responding to section A and section B in
music. The teacher will determine whether the students are giving
the appropriate responses to the section of music that they are
seeing, dancing to, or hearing. (Lessons 1, 2, 7, 8, 9)
- Student self-evaluation and
self-reflection will be promoted in all lessons.
