Features of Dreamweaver That Are Pluses
The software allows the editor to have an Objects Toolbar and Properties Inspector float on the desktop. The software FTPs the web page to the server, so the software application does it all.  It is much simpler than Composer, because it uses terminology like Put and Get to download or upload your page.  I have been experimenting with it the month of June, and still learn something new each day that it can do. I am teaching myself utilizing its excellent Help menu. "Dreamweaver is fully customizable. You can create your own objects and commands, modify menus and keyboard shortcuts, and even write JavaScript code to extend Dreamweaver with new behaviors and property inspectors," states the overview of the software. F12 allows you to preview your web page in a browser, which is a wonderful help. Another feature that I didn't use is the Making E-Mail Links in the Objects Palette under Common. The HTML editor has spell check. I inserted my date, which will automatically update itself from Dreamweaver.

This is the Dreamweaver work area. The Object Palette is on the left. The Property Inspector is on the bottom of the illustration. It is so easy to insert a saved image in Dreamweaver.

Simply go to Insert in the file menu and choose Image.

This text box is a layer inserted into a table.

Minuses of Dreamweaver

I can only find a few negatives with Dreamweaver , because it really is easy to learn. The first challenge is the software does cost; whereas, there is free software available. I also noticed that there is currently a newer version called Dreamweaver MX when researching Dreamweaver . This costs to keep upgrading; however, freeware's updates are free. Another challenge is the font parameters that I wanted to set up would change back to the defaults if I were just going from center alignment to left alignment in the same table. Font styles are limited to:

Default, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-serifTimes New Roman, Times, serif, Courier New, Courier, mono Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif,Verdana, Arial, Hevetica, sans-serif.
The list is typed in the font that it is.

Additional Comments About Dreamweaver

There is a very good web site that supports the software. Its URL is http://www.macromedia.com/sitemap/ I have asked our district web coordinator, Jacob Bland, what he thinks of the software. He thought this was excellent for web authoring. He is going to have the building web masters use it to author the individual building web pages. Now, that I have learned how to use it I plan to use it for all of my future web pages.
