The Assignment:  Create a Web Page around the Five Themes of Geography

In Mr. Norman's classroom the five themes of geography were studied.  A pre-survey was given prior to the beginning of the assignment.  You can view this document below by clicking on it. Students then worked in cooperative groups of two, three or four to chose a city. Students researched the Internet, brochures, and books to find information on their city.  They were to find facts on each of the five themes of geography about their city that they chose.  Next, they were given instruction in Web Page Design.  In the Learning Center they learned how to use the Learning Village software.  Then, each student typed in their information, added pictures, and created lists of resources.  Last, they typed their Bibliography.  Several corrections to the web pages were made with the help of peers.  When they were finished, they were given time to visit the other web pages and write in the guest book on the page something positive about the page. A post survey was given following the completion of the Learning Village web pages.
