Subject: Intech, what else?

Hi!I have a few follow-up questions for you...

1. Why did equipment provided for a collaborative project change after the proposal was accepted? Wasn't each member of the group promised their own scanner? One participant mentioned the inconvenience of having to share ...

Yes, we did say that, but we decided to add another 3 teachers to the program and we had to cut somewhere, so we just provided one scanner, and cut their discretionary budget by $100.Hmmm.... I think we also made a change in the printer, too.Instead of the 3 inkjet printers at $250 each, we purchased one networked color printer at $3500 each.I'd be interested in how happy they are with that change :) I don't think you would find that many would argue they would like to go

back to the original proposal.

The reasons for the change initially, were that it allowed for another entire group to participate. This was clearly laid out in the beginning to them. They were able to drop out if they weren't happy with it.

2.How quickly did you expect to be able to provide on-site tech support? Was that communicated to the participants?

Usually, we could do it within 48 hours of an email.Unless it was a special circumstance - like they wanted to do something that was way out in left field and we had to prepare, or learn a great deal prior to working with them (example is FrontPage server extensions that a couple of them wanted) -we were usually pretty good about this. There is no doubt that InTech folks received a quicker response to on-site tech support questions. But, it was clearly communicated that they had to provide us with an email and at least a little scheduling notice. That means at least

a 48 hour lead time.

3. Is there any already produced video of kids engaged in the projects that we could have access to? and help streaming it onto our web presentation?

Sure.. it's on the InTech website.Check out the Sheridan Diversity project.I know that Curt just updated this, and

they have some interesting videos that the kids took, digitized and put up on the site.I thought the Sheridan Ghost was kind of cool... not sure what ed. value it has :)

I also know that we just worked with Diane Goerlitz for the Biology project on Friday - her kids finished some mink dissection videos.I just went to her site, but don't see it linked from the site, though. You might just want to drop her a short mail goerlitzd@district87.org <mailto:goerlitzd@district87.org>and see where it is.She'd be happy to

provide you the links... Some of the others haven't put their stuff up, though..I'm not sure what you mean about streaming your web presention.. more

4. Would you like to try a brief audio interview that we could record and stream as well? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS....

Sure. The question is how you will capture it?Check out Sheridan's Diversity site.. they did this w/ the kid's speeches.. I wouldn't worry about streaming it.. I would just figure out how to capture it and put it on the site. Now you're in their role :)

That's all for now... But I might bug you again soon :-)

not a problem.. we're here...

Thanks,

Becky Trieger

Note new email address. Either will still work...

Hi. I tried sending this last week but didn't hear from you. I wanted to give you a breather before I pestered you again... but now my group is ready to finish up our part of the evaluation and we'd really like these last 3 questions answered. Sorry to bother you but we would appreciate a response as soon as possible.

Thanks again... and remember...THIS IS ALMOST OVER!!!! :-)

Becky

1. Did you apply new technology skills in your classroom? Which skills and how?

Hi back to you,

Everything was down over our spring break so I didn't see anything from you.

:+(

Yes, the video camara & scanner.I am thinking of ways to use it in our west unit. Also Josh & I want to make video show for our 5th farwell assembly. Will take footage on field trip archeture walk classes to show students in action. Also our orientation will be updated beyond a simple power point next year.Web site linkage for student research is also new

for us this year.

2. What would youlike to have addressed/asked/ or suggest to feel more involved in the evaluation process? You mentioned it seemed like a one way process-- what could we do to make you feel you have a voice? Please

add your two cents...

. We would like to see student feedback, recommendations, strong points, from your info gathering. What do you see from looking at the total picture that we can't see because we only know our small part.

3. Do you have any work samples you could send me. I still need to check the web site but thought you might have files ready to send that would show examples of the kids' work...

. All students created a power point portfolio with the intention of a conference presentation to parents or observers. They really do not lend themselves to file sending.
