Step 2: Taking Notes on Your Reading about the Main Event
Objective: Demonstrate a note taking strategy using a Note Taking Map
Materials: One of the resources for your Main Event or if you have not brought a resource to class, an article provided by the instructor.
The diagram below illustrates two ways to set up your note taking pages.

Directions:
Your in-class assignment is to create Note Taking Maps using one of the resources for your Main Event or one provided by the instructor. Continue constructing Note Taking Maps as needed.
Day One:
1. On your paper(or if you don't have paper, take some from the supply table), set up your papers using one of the page formats shown in the graphic---the dimensions are approximate.
2. Read your resource and make notes on your Note Taking Map in the section numbered "1."
Day Two:
1. Complete sections "2" and "3."
2. In section 2, write a question that would be answered by the notes that you have written in section "1."
3. In section 3, write a question you have as a result of your reading this section and up to five vocabulary words with definitions from this section of your reading.
