Education and Experience

Most of my classes after college have been taken to learn new skills that I can use to be a better teacher. Before receiving my Master's degree, I had over 100 graduate hours in reading, disciline, technology, psychology, science, social studies, math,
severe and profound, and Mandt training.

Scotopic Sensitivity Screener

When a child told me the words were leaving the page when he tried to read, I neede more information and found Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome.  This is a visual perceptual problem which can be helped with colored overlays and/or colored lenses. I was unable to find a Scotopic Screener so I trained to be a screener
the following summer.

Code of Ethics

As a part of my program at the University of Illinois,
our class was divided into groups and each group developed a code of ethics for the use of technology in education.

Zimmerly Evaluation Project

Another one of my projects was to evaluate the use of  technology at my school.  My principal and I decided to evaluate the use of the Accelerated Reader and Star Reader programs andfind out if there was any correlation between the test scores on the Star Reader and end of the year standardized test scores. This was a semester long project culminating with a power point presentation and a full length written report (pdf format takes a while to load).  The Executive Summary is included in web page format.
