Designing
a procedure to test an explanation or theory takes time. It must be documented thoroughly so that
it can be exactly recreated if necessary.
Questions to ask yourself
about the experiment you designed (check all that your work meets):
Did you identify the type of experiment you are doing
–controlled, double-blind, study, or a type of causal?
Did you identify the variable, control, and any control
variables?
Did you include specific steps to do the controlled part of the
experiment including any set-up, building, testing, and recording of data?
Did you include specific steps to do the variable part of th
experiment, including any set-up, building, testing, and recording of data?
Did you do all possible to exclude experimenter bias that
could influence the results of the experiment.
If possible, did you control any controlled variables or
other causal factors other than the
main variable that could affect the results of the experiment?
Did you include any formulas and instructions on when and
how to use them if necessary?
If you left any box
unchecked, you should review your procedures and revise if necessary.
