Brown Bear (Grizzly Bear)
Description: Both brown and grizzly bears are the same bear. The name "grizzly" comes from the silver tipped grizzled hairs that these brown bears develop as they get older. They reach weights of 300-1500 pounds.
Habitat: They live in mountain forests, open meadows and large river valleys. They have been found in North America, Europe, and North Asia.
Food: They mainly eat plants including, berries, flowers, grasses, herbs, tubers, and nuts of all kinds. They also eat fish, small marine animals, ants and other insects, honey, elk and moose calves and a variety of other small mammals (e.g., ground squirrels, marmots, etc.)
