Chimpanzee
Description Chimpanzee is the animal most closely related to humans physically and genetically. Chimpanzees do not have tails and any facial hair or hair on the soles of their feet or the palms of their hands. They are very clever animals. They are communicative and are skilled at making and using tools. They have long arms and very flexible hands and feet, so they can move from branch to branch easily.
Habitat Chimpanzees are found in diverse habitats ranging from humid tropical forests to wooded savannahs in west central Africa. Although they spend 60% of their time on the ground, chimps sleep at night in large nests they build in trees and feed in trees during the day. They live in a loosely organized community where groups of males defend the community's home range.
Food Chimps are mainly fruit eaters, but
they also eat leaves,
blossoms, bark and insects. Males occasionally eat meat.
