My comparison to other visions

I fully agree with Yoke Chun's vision; a borderless classroom, learning at anytime, anywhere and active learning.   In the future, people including children will have their personal computer and accessibility to the Internet.   They will communicate with the worldwide people.   Distance will no longer be a problem.   All learning via the electronic network will increase activity and participation of teachers and students.   In addition, he presented us many good example web sites.

However, I could not strongly agree with one point of his vision that technology can facilitate the social interactions between the teachers and students.   I think the distance learning by high technology will tend to increase only educational interaction.   On the contrary, it will decrease social interaction and more people will be socially isolated.   Therefore, the future distance learning will be better when it includes appropriate traditional face-to-face interaction.

In this point, I share with Xiao Yu, Bing Pan and Tsui-Ju Chen's visions about the corporeal universities.   The physical universities will exist in the future, however, the roles of universities will be reshaped as the information technology develops.
