We have been busy the first half
of the year. Some highlights include:
- A seed spitting contest where
we measured our spit distances, figured the mean, median and mode distances
and challenged Mr. Delich's class. We won... our farthest spit beat
theirs. Way to go Swayce! Click
here to view some photos of the event.
- Our Great Airplane Challenge...
we learned about economics by participating in this project. We formed
companies, purchased equipment and supplies at an auction, created products
(paper airplanes) and flew them in a contest. There were several categories
of prizes and the winning company had the greatest final profit. Grand
prize winners received pewter airplane keychains donated by Latashia's
father. Ben's dad donated some prizes as well so everyone was well rewarded
for their hard work. We learned a lot about economics along the way!
- The Castle... We are so lucky
to have our own castle reading nook. Students and parents worked together
to build, paint and decorate this fabulous creation. It is the favorite
spot for quiet working in the classroom. All of us love it! Click

Now, we are looking
forward to the second half of the year!
