Resource Site
Evaluation This is an example of a completed rubric. Following is a discussion of the web site and a final recommendation. It is important to consider the audience of the site while evaluating. This site is intended to serve as a resource for teachers. Evaluating Web Sites: A Rubric for Teachers
Format: As indicated by the checklist, the format of this site is excellent. There are minimal distractions and navigation is a breeze. Content: The scope of the information provided is wonderful. All sites recommended are well described and rated using a 5 star system. The curricular links I explored offer a variety of online student activities that looked fun, interesting and worthwhile. Credibility: This site is sponsored by Pacific Bell and is part of their educational initiative created to support schools, colleges and libraries in their quest to meaningfully integrate Internet resources. Because the site does NOT appear to be an advertisement is disguise, it seems credible. The home page of Knowledge Network Explorer had additional resources like a Web Quest directory and Filamentality (a fill in the blank interactive web site that helps you turn web resources into learning activities). Learning Process: These items were skipped because the site isn't intended for student use. However, the links suggested by the Blue Web'N database were rich in educational value. Learners would be engaged, challenged to think and learn, and several of the multiple intelligences would be integrated. Scoring: This site earned a score of 29 out of 30. I ammended the maximum score possible to consider that some of the items were not applicable. I would give this site a big thumbs up! Next Page
