1968 Invention of "The Mouse"

In the fall of 1968, Douglas Engelbart introduced the world to a prototype of the computer mouse, the "X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System." Prior to this development, computer access was limited to individuals who could understand and manipulate the keyboard. This was a revolutionary step because it opened the world of computing to children and the illiterate. Reading and writing were no longer a prerequisite to operating the computer. Information could be manipulated simply by pointing and depressing a button! The use of the mouse did not become popularized until 1984 when the Apple Macintosh was introduced. Since then this device has had an incredible impact on education. The proliferation of both software and hardware targeted for school age children is phenomenal and is due in large part to the changes in computing that followed the introduction of the mouse. Today one cannot imagine computing without the convenience and simplicity of mouse navigation.

Although many don't know about the creative genius behind the invention of the mouse, Engelbart is also credited with inventing several interactive, user-friendly information access systems currently taken for granted. He pioneered the use of shared-screen teleconferencing, hypermedia and groupware. Bill Gates has even compared Engelbart to Thomas Edison.

Engelbart is currently working at the institute he founded and  is focusing his energy on the creation of an "open document system" he expects might one day replace paper record keeping.

2015- TalkTech

Trieger Industries proudly announces the arrival of  TalkTech, a fully automated system now available for your hardware and software.  Talk Tech is a revolutionary, voice activated technical assistant that can troubleshoot any technology related problem. Just ask and TalkTech will talk you through the steps necessary to fix whatever problem you may have. This inexpensive peripheral is compatible with all formats, brands, source codes and operating systems. Use TalkTech and free up your technology facilitator to do just that...facilitate the true integration of technology resources with your students. He or she will no longer be bogged down with the nitty gritty technical issues associated with hardware and network problems, software glitches or user inexperience.

TalkTech provides assistance in a user friendly, non technical way so even the most computer phobic will feel confident tackling the inevitable breakdown of equipment and applications. This invaluable education resource retails for a mere $25,000...a small price to pay for peace of mind.

The founder of Trieger Industries, Rebecca Trieger, attributes her inspiration for creating this ground breaking device to her early trials with computer use during her enrollment in the CTER program at the University of Illinois.
