Executive Summary
The study of cognitive psychology has many implications for science instruction in the elementary school. This project is a study of those findings and how to select curriculum materials that will meet the needs of the learners in Springfield, Illinois. The project contains cognitive aspects of teaching and learning science, the construction of an evaluation tool to study commercially published materials, the curriculum study plan to be followed, the history and needs assessment of elementary science in Springfield Public Schools, and references used during the project.
